Feel yourself at home in Dahab! |

• Taxi – feel good about bargaining on price for taxi ride and don’t settle for more than 5 pounds from Kite lagoon to town (Maasbat) (say Hamsa Ginea, which is 5 pounds) or maximum 10 pounds if you are more than 2 people (Ashara Ginea) • Buy local sim-card Vodafone for a fare price of 25 Egyptian pounds – as even in cell-phone shop you can be offered twice more expensive mobile service • If you want to buy some fresh fruit – go to Assala square. (Don’t pay more than 10 pounds for the road, for 4 pax in a car no more than 20 LE) • For groceries, we suggest Ghazala SuperMarket in downtown Maasbat with fixed prices • If you want to spend sometime snorkeling – we have wonderful Napoleon reef only 15 minutes away by foot from the station. Or try Blue Hole, one of the best diving spots, ask us for more details. • Fairly good shisha in “Friends” restaurant, to eat in “Nemo”, “Friends”, “Ali Baba”. Alcohol is not served in local restaurants but you can bring some with you. Delicious coffee and pizza in Islam’s restaurant next door from LightHouse entrance. Good Italian restaurant “Eldorado” – offering excellent tiramisu, panacota. Really budget lunch and dinner you can find in Chicken & Fighting Kangaroo street cafes – 15 local pounds for combo: soup, main dish, salad and pita bread. (Take Dahab Map at out station to navigate easily around). • Night clubs – Rush, the Tree bar. On Wednesdays in Rush – live concert, disco on Fridays, just have a drink and meet people everyday. In Tree bar – disco on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In both places you can play some pool. • In non-windy day we can offer trips on a boat – ask at Happy Kite reception. • Here are a few Arabic words, which can help you: shukran – thank you, afuan – you are welcome, masalama – bye bye, le shukran – no, thank you (this helps to eliminate excessively active sales people :), alyatul – go straight ahead, yamin – to the right, shemel – to the left, ashara – 10, hamsa – 5, abashi – dear, inshaala – as Allah will wish for, bokra – tomorrow. • A few more tips: use the sun screen, wash your hands regularly, don’t drink tap water and your vacation will be unforgettable!!! |
